Sitka Blacktail Deer Hunting >Kodiak, Alaska
|
The 2008 deer hunting season will commence on September 30th and run through December 16th. Our deer hunts are Eight days and Seven nights. They begin and end on Saturday. Captain Mike Flores has over 24 years experience getting hunters and fishermen to the trophy of their dreams. We offer two state of the art boats, the 43' MV Arctic Endeavor and the 50' MV Sundy, both built by Delta Marine. On Saturday morning, after arriving in Kodiak, you will board a plane with Servant Air and fly 30 minutes to Larsen Bay.

The areas you will be hunting offer a wide variety of terrain and vegetation. This diversity of habitat combined with relatively mild winters on Kodiak are the main reasons the area supports such a large population of deer. Your typical day starts off with an excellent breakfast on board your vessel, followed by a quick shore transport with our inflatable skiffs to start the day's hunt. We will supply you with a hearty sack lunch. We recommend that everyone hunt with a partner for safety reasons, and we supply handheld radios and emergency beacons in case you need to contact the vessel for safety reasons or early pickup.
A field dressed adult blacktail deer will weigh between 90 to 170 lbs. Most hunters will do a quick field dressing ashore and skin and process their deer back aboard the vessel under the cover and comfort of the well lit big back deck. This provides for an excellent, clean environment to care for your game--not to mention a great chance to share stories of your hunt and enjoy camraderie with the other hunters in your party. Then it's time to cook some of that venison on the gas grill and see why Kodiak venison is so hard to beat!
To add even more variety to your hunt on Kodiak, waterfowl hunting can also be included to add some fresh duck to your dinner! |
